Academic questions

I'm having a problem scheduling or dropping courses.

You should contact the secretariat of your programme as follows:

I want to dispute a grade; I've been graded unfairly.

Students who wish to dispute a grade can make an appeals. First, review the academic policies and regulations and consult the concerned professor for explanations.

If you still think that you have been graded unfairly, you should then contact the Academic Advisor, Dr Laurent Neury, at  + 41 (0) 22 908 62 61 or laurent.neury@graduateinstitute.ch.

I need academic advice; which course should I take?

First, consult the information for your specific study programme and the course catalogue.

I want to change my programme.

Programme changes are the exceptions rather than the rule, and generally happen in the first two weeks of your studies at the Institute.

What do I need to do to get credits for an internship?

You need to fill in a request form (beforehand) and an attestation form (afterwards) in order to get credits. These forms are available on the page containing information on Masters Programmes.

I'm having a problem with my dissertation or thesis.

First, you can consult your supervisor or the head of your department. Click here to see who is the head of your department.

Where can I get a transcript or duplicate of my diploma?

I need to take a leave of absence from the Institute for professional or personal reasons.

You have to fill in this form and send/submit it to the secretariat of your  programme, together with the required documents. The secretariat of your programme will then submit your request to the Director of Studies.

I need to transfer in credits from another institution. Who should I contact?

It is not possible to transfer credits from another institution. However, there are two exceptions: credits earned during your exchange programme and  the 6 ECTS credits course that you can take outside the Institute during your studies.

How can I verify that I am fulfilling my degree requirements?

First, refer the information for your specific study programme. You can also consult online your updated transcript that is available on your Campus secure account.

How can I find a job or internship?

How do I order an official transcript?

I need a letter certifying that I am currently enrolled as a student. How do I get this?

At the beginning of the semester, all students will receive an invoice for the semester’s tuition fees. As soon as your payment will be registered, you will find your certificate of registration for the semester on your Campus account, under “reporting”. For more information, you should contact Ms Nadia Ceccon, at the student reception, at + 41 (0) 22 908 57 57 or at studentreception@graduateinstitute.ch.

How can I update my registration date on my multi-services card?

Following the payment of your tuition fees for every semester, you will need to update your semester on your multi-service card, using the terminal which stands in front of the Student Services’ reception desk.

I lost my multi-services card (student card)

In case of loss, please proceed in the following manner:

  • immediately inform the IT department (tel: + 41 22 908 57 46 or email: helpdesk@graduateinstitute.ch);
  • pay CHF 10 to the accounting department (P1, level 4, see the opening hours online);
  • present the payment receipt to the telephone receptionists (P1, level 3), so that they can issue your new card.

I'm having trouble contacting administrators / I sent a few e-mails but I haven't gotten a response.

I am having health or psychological problems.

First refer to the health and insurance page of the student portal which provides information on medical and psychological support.
